HAVE YOU EVER TAKEN YOUR HOME FOR GRANTED?
I know most of us have at some point or the other in our life.
But what is it that constitutes a HOME?
Is it the space that we occupy? Or the people that we occupy it with?
Could it be the comfort that comes from the routine that is associated with friends and neighbors, that becomes a part of our emotional journey, giving it the feeling of home?
Is it the fear or insecurity that stems from venturing too far from our comfort zone, that draws us back?
Is it all of the above?
How do you know when you are missing home?
To me, more than occupying a space, home constitutes being with my loved ones.
And if I am on my own, I love being amongst nature, be it in the mountains, or observing the beautiful colors of the sunset from an open landscape. I’ve always associated nature with a sense of freedom… be it the chirping of the birds or just the whisper of the breeze, it always felt like home.
I can imagine driving through the scenic route through the mountains to get home.
That is probably the reason why I chose this subject as my first painting back in 1995.
