LONGING.

There’s something about silence that speaks louder than words.

When I painted this piece, my focus was on the samurai, although I painted him last.

This lone figure standing still, surrounded by beauty, yet carrying something deeper.

He could be returning to his calm haven, or perhaps he’s about to go into battle, gazing at his home one last time.

That quiet tension, that breath before a choice....is what held me.

The landscape is still...draped in cherry blossoms and soft light. There’s peace in what surrounds him…

But within him, there’s a sacred longing, an ache that sits quietly beneath the surface.

The swords on his back… they’re more than weapons.

They hold the weight of unspoken duty, of paths chosen and not.

And as he stands there, motionless, I see not just a warrior, but a soul suspended between presence and longing.

Sometimes silence isn’t the absence of sound… It’s the presence of everything we’ve felt but never said.

A place where the heart aches softly, without needing to explain.

Where time pauses… and the soul listens.

In painting him, I met that part of myself, the one who yearns, who waits, who wonders.

And in that stillness, I heard what words could never hold.
