When I began this painting, I found myself revisiting

The Barn, a piece I painted many years ago, in another chapter of my life. Back then, the barn stood in solitude, surrounded by silence, holding space for unanswered questions.

But Nostalgia… feels different.

It carries the same essence, yet life flows through it, now a reminder of how much I’ve evolved in these 30 years.

There’s movement in this landscape…

Horses gather in the enclosure,

Two men share a quiet exchange,

A red truck rests by the barn,

A haystack promises another day’s work,

And a woman leans by the porch, watching the world breathe.

The mountains remain steady, timeless, and untouched, while everything else shifts with time. That, to me, is what nostalgia truly feels like: carrying fragments of who we once were, yet painting them with new colors, new stories, new life.

Perhaps, in some ways, we never leave the places that shaped us.

We just return to them differently.
