“Hold the Door”

This painting now stands complete, carrying the weight of everything it was meant to say.

At its center stands a door, simple, quiet, unassuming. And yet, it holds the unbearable heaviness of sacrifice.

The swirling reds around it are not just paint, they are emotion, urgency, memory.

To me, they speak of chaos and courage, of a moment suspended in time when one soul stood between destruction and salvation.

This piece was born from a story that left an ache in so many of us: Hodor’s story in Game of Thrones.

A gentle soul, once whole, fractured by fate.

His name - Hodor, was never just a name.

It was a command.

A plea.

A prophecy.

Hold the door, he was told.

And he did....until his final breath. That door became him.

He became the door.

As messengers, the ravens observe. Silent witnesses to what has been and what is yet to come.

They watch, they remember.

They carry the story forward, long after the rest of the world has forgotten.

This painting is a tribute to that kind of devotion.

The kind that gives everything it has without ever asking for anything in return.

The kind that leaves a scar on the world, quietly....bravely.

We often think of doors as entryways, but some are meant to be held, even when it tears you apart.

In the end, it’s not the battles we fight that define us, it’s the doors we choose to hold.
